Alison Gray, Fish Hoek
Mark Wiley’s defence of the Galley owners is heart-warming but irrelevant to the terms of the lease and the objections of the public (“Misplaced comments of the Galley”, Echo, May 17).
I have only lived in Fish Hoek for three years, spend a lot of time at the beach and have heard several complaints about the seeming stranglehold the Galley owners have on this lease, which excludes others who would like to upgrade this facility in line with other attractive ones along our beautiful beach fronts from Hout Bay to Kalk Bay.
Fish Hoek, I’m sure all would agree, is in need of upgrading and should not be precluded from this by the current Galley owners, whose best effort is the ridiculous thatched hut.
