The victim support unit at Fish Hoek police station offers a free counselling service to anyone in the community who has been through, or is going through, a crisis or trauma such as death, rape, divorce, a life-changing accident, robbery, hijacking, domestic abuse and drug or alcohol abuse.
According to Fish Hoek police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Jackie Johnson, the unit provides a safe place for victims to share their experiences with a counsellor, all information shared is confidential and victims are referred for further support.
“Many people are not aware of the fall-out from a traumatic incident. Your response to trauma affects your reality, and the counsellor is there to listen, support and provide assistance,” said Lieutenant Colonel Johnson.
If you are in need of such help, contact the Fish Hoek Police station at 021 7842720 or 7842722 or 021 7826289. Leave your name and contact number and one of the victim support volunteers will call you back and schedule and appointment.
