The Fish Hoek Valley Museum has a large digital collection of local aerial photographs dating back to 1945. This photograph shows Peter Cronwright’s Dairy Farm on the outskirts of Fish Hoek in 1945. As a result of the pending Kalk Bay Harbour development at the time, being on the land where he kept his cattle, he relocated to this area between 1912 and 1913, meaning he arrived in the area before the village of Fish Hoek was created in 1918, establishing the first commercial dairy in the Valley in 1933. In the centre of the photograph, two thirds of the way up, two parallel sheds, a square building and a paddock are visible. The site lay immediately to the south of present-day Upper Recreation Road. White milk delivery carts are visible outside the left hand shed. For more information on this and other historic sites, email the museum curator at curator.fishhoekvalleymuseum@gmail.com
