The Africa Centre, in collaboration with the Institute of Creative Arts, presents the last instalment of the Infecting the City Sessions for 2016.
This session will be held in Langa, on Youth Day, today Thursday June 16. Curated by performer Khanyisile Mbongwa, the session will explore the theme What Will We Tell Freedom?
The session will start at noon in Washington Street between Mendi Avenue and Jungle Walk and run until 4pm.
Some of the work featured includes: Themba Mbuli, who brings Owen Manamela-Mo- gane’s works to life in a daring performance piece interrogating masculinity; the Langa based African Dance Theatre will enthral all with their dance performance Pantsula San’; The Portrait, by the collective iQhiya explores the roles of gender and tradition within contemporary South Africa; and iLanga’libalele will call upon their ancestors using rhythm and rhyme to reimagine the present as well as the future.
