WP squash team gold and silver medallists

In the two major 2017 WP squash ranking tournaments held over the past few weeks, the WP Open and the WP Closed,
both the gold and silver medallists in the boys’ under-13 section hail from the far south.

The gold medallist in both tournaments, Reece Cooper, a pupil at Fish Hoek Primary School, represented Western Province under-13A last year at the interprovincial tournament in Port Elizabeth.

Reece remained unbeaten throughout both tournaments.

The silver medallist in both tournaments, Giyan Sulcas, a pupil at Sun Valley Primary School, was the top seed in the WP under-11A team that competed last year at the interprovincial meet in George.

Giyan is competing this year only in his first year under-13, with still another year to come in 2018 in which he’ll be playing in this age group.

Reece and Giyan will now be the number one and two respectively in the 2017 WP under-13A squash team that will compete in the national interprovincial tournament to be held in Pietermaritzburg, in July.
