Nine players from Cape Town jetted off to South Korea on Monday August 26 to join the rest of the South Africa squad taking part in the under-18 Baseball World Cup. South African Head of Delegation, Desmond Spielman said the SA squad was in high spirits ahead of the games and are prepared to cause a few upsets. Spielman says they are aiming to bring home a medal. SA are in group B with Japan, USA, Chinese Taipei, Panama and Spain.

Despite going to the tournament as the second lowest ranked team, Spielman says the SA side put in a lot of work and has shown great potential to get wins against sides ranked in the top 10 in the world.
