Slave Route Challenge

The 10th annual Slave Route Challenge takes place on Sunday February 23, starting on the Grand Parade in Cape Town. Participants can choose to do a half marathon, 10km run, 10km walk or a 5km fun run / walk. The route starts in front of the City Hall in Darling Street, and passes a number of landmarks, among them the Castle of Good Hope, District 6, Hurling Swing Pump, SA Jewish Museum, Slave Bell, Company Gardens, Parliament, St George’s Cathedral, Palm Street Mosque, Dorp Street Mosque, Iziko Bo-Kaap Museum, Gallows Hill, Fort Wynyard, Prestwich Memorial, Iziko Slave Lodge, Slave Tree Plaque, Palestine Museum and finishes on the Grand Parade where the Whipping Post used to be.  Each year the race has a commemorative medal and a race beneficiary, which this year is The League of Friends of the Blind. You can enter the Slave Route Challenge via Webtickets or in store at any Sportsman’s Warehouse in the Western Cape. Entries close Sunday February 9.
