The body of an unidentified man was found at Long Beach, Simon’s Town, on Tuesday June 7.
A National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) crew and police divers retrieved the body from the water and took it to the NSRI base.
“It appears that the man may have been a worker at local roadworks and he had reportedly disappeared from his post in the early hours of the morning before being spotted in the surfline later that same morning,“ said NSRI station commander Darren Zimmerman.
Provincial police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said an inquest docket had been opened and an investigation was under way.
