Ghost town

Usually the epicentre of tourism in the far south, Simons Town was eerily deserted.

On Saturday May 9, apart from a busy Main Road in Fish Hoek there was virtually not another person on the road from Simon’s Town to Kalk Bay, despite the marginal easing of the lockdown earlier this month. The Muize centre had a small show of life as people stood, well placed apart, in queues to get their groceries. But the tourist hotspot of Simon’s Town and Kalk Bay were ghost towns and the beaches between them were pristine and silent.
