Roadworks in Simon’s Town, Glencairn, Kommetjie, Fish Hoek, and Sun Valley will take place from Wednesday November 6 until Wednesday February 12 next year.
Mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas said the work would be done between 8am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am to 3.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The project would improve the road network in the far south, he said.
Rockland, Harrington, Gillard, Arsenal, Forest Hill and Valley roads; Dorries Drive; and Wavell Avenue are affected in Simon’s Town along with Warner, Gardrum Hill and Dunedin roads and Kemps and Reids ways in Glencairn and Benning Drive in Kommetjie.
Recreation, Upper Recreation and Upper De Waal roads; Protea Avenue; Emerald Crescent; and Central Circle will be affected in Fish Hoek as will Brigantine and Corvette avenues in Sun Valley.
Mr Quintas said the work in Fish Hoek, Glencairn, and Simon’s Town would include road resurfacing, replacement of kerbs and channels as well as the adjustment of manholes to match the new asphalt surfaces. Lane and reflective road markings would also be applied.
In Kommetjie, he said, work would involve installing channels along Benning Drive as well as a stormwater catchpit and a stormwater pipe connecting the new catchpit across Benning Drive. Additionally, a headwall would be constructed for the stormwater pipes.
In Sun Valley, the work would include the installation of mole barriers on both sides of the footpath along Brigantine Avenue and on one side of Corvette Avenue.
