Muizenberg SAPS made a total of 36 arrests for crimes ranging from shoplifting to rape, be-tween Friday March 18 and Thursday March 24.
These arrests include four for shoplifting; five for assault; four arrests for domestic violence; three for housebreaking and theft; three for possession of narcotics; one for dealing in liquor without a licence; one for possession of stolen property; one for theft out of a car; one arrest for theft, one for outstanding warrants; two for pointing of a firearm; one for driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance; one for fraud, six arrests of illegal immigrants and two arrests for rape.
On Wednesday March 23 at 3.20pm, members from Nyanga cluster, fol- lowed up information received regarding possible stolen cellphones, which were being stored in Drury Road, Vrygrond.
Police searched the premises and found a number of cellphones and other IT equipment, which included an Apple iPhone that had been stolen during a housebreaking incident in Seawinds on Wednesday March 9.
The owner of the residence, a 50-year-old woman, could not provide a reasonable explanation as to the possession of the items and was subsequently arrested for being in possession of stolen property.
