Dido Valley Road will be closed until Monday, May 16, due to construction work.
The road was closed on Tuesday April 12.
Mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas said the construction project was managed by GLC Civils (Pty) Ltd and not the City of Cape Town.
The developer is upgrading infrastructure for the planned Harbour Bay Village development in Simon’s Town.
“Commuters are advised to make use of alternative routes via Glen and Da Gama roads over the next few weeks,” Mr Quintas said.
The project will install a pipe along the road to divert stormwater from the stream at the intersection of Penguin and Dido Valley roads to an existing stormwater canal.
The road closure was needed as more than half the width of the road would be dug up, said Mr Quintas.
“Unfortunately the pipe could not be positioned on the road verge as the existing landfill site could not be disturbed,” he said.
