Glencairn author, clinical psychologist, and public speaker Dr Jana Lazarus has launched a new picture book for adults, Bits in a Basket.
The book is written by a shamanic practitioner who goes by the name of Tass Two Crows Flying and curated by Dr Lazarus who is also known as Dr Zizz, due to her involvement in Zip Zap Circus, which teaches circus schools to children in poverty.
She specialises in producing uplifting illustrated storybooks for children and adults, based on true stories and inspiring events.
Dr Lazarus says the book is a “unique” picture book for adults, specifically women, and teaches about a return to reverence for nature and how women, as sisters, can stand by each other in times of crisis.
Anya Kotzuba illustrated the book and cartoonist Chip Snaddon did the typesetting, layout and design.
Dr Lazarus also recently launched her own publishing company, Handmade Life.
She will also launch her third book, Badly Drawn Cats, in December.
“I feel I have something to say after two decades of working with people and understanding what makes them tick and how to get our happy on in this wild ride called life,” says.
In 2019, she brought out I Can Fly, the first book to come out of Zip Zap Circus.
“What I love about my stories is that they find me. I Can Fly came out of taking my child to see the circus. Bits in a Basket arose out of coffee dates I had with my best friend, and Badly Drawn Cats was born because I stopped to buy my poor old body a health juice.”
I Can Fly and Bits in a Basket are already available through all major online vendors. Badly Drawn Cats will be available in December. For pre-sales contact Dr Lazarus at shamballahplaytherapy@gmail.com
