Human Rights Day was celebrated in Khoi style at The Galley restaurant in Fish Hoek. Ocean View residents who trace their heritage back to the Khoi people came together to treat passers by to songs and poetry in Afrikaans and their mother tongue. Children performed songs in their ancestors’ language. Mathea Eichel, owner of The Galley, said she was proud of her Khoi ancestry and is part of the group of people who are working to re-establish a cultural identity in their children.
