Museum to host film festival

Simon’s Town Museum will host the Trammakas(sea) Film Festival on Saturday July 30, from 10am to 1pm. Films by NatureEnvironment Wildlife Films (NEWF) film-makers will be screened followed by a discussion with the film-makers. According to the museum, Trammakassie is a derivative of the Melayu expression, Teramah Kasih, meaning “thank you” in English. It reflects an experience of and connection to the ocean. It is a word that tells a story of slavery, of exile, and a reconstitution of home. The line-up includes Ulwandle Lushile by Tembisa Jordaan, Hluleka by Jamila Janna, Between the Tides by Jess Lambson, Azilali by Fanie Loubser, Rise from the Cape Flats by Mogamat Shamier Magmoet, Phefumla by Maisha Mosala and Seeking Giants by Fidel Tshivhasa.
