Aside from its regular prayer schedule and daily spiritual activity during Ramadaan, the Open Mosque in Wynberg will host various events that encapsulate its vision and mission to bring the adherents of Judaism, Christianity and Islam closer together, harmonising faith with friendship.
On Saturday June 17 at 5.30pm, the Open Mosque invites family and friends to break the fast with them when they host their public iftar (breaking the fast) at the mosque, at 4 Lester Road, Wynberg.
The event is open to all Muslims as well as non-Muslims.
Fasting is not a prerequisite for attendance for non-Muslims.
Since seating capacity is limited, reserve your place (and the number in your party) by emailing the Open Mosque at info@
theopenmosque.org.za or by calling 082 604 6327 or 021 824 1400.
To replicate last year’s Open Mosque Christmas dinner, when Christians partook in a dinner celebration at the mosque to mark the birth of Jesus, Christ the King Anglican Church is welcoming the congregation of the Open Mosque for a halaal iftar on Friday June 23, at the church at 163 Milner Road, Claremont, at 5.30pm.
Apart from breaking the fast there, the church has given Muslims the liberty to recite the adhan (call to prayer) and to perform the sunset and night prayers.Confirm your attendance well in advance.
The Open Mosque says these three landmark invitations are a direct consequence of its interfaith outreach since its inception over two years ago when it embraced the Jewish and Christian community to foster enhanced understanding and peaceful coexistence.
