The Chief of the South African Navy Change of Command Parade will take place on Tuesday December 6, at Martello Sports Field in Simon’s Town.
Lieutenant Commander Doreen Lourens said there would be road closures, between Admiralty House and Martello Sports Field, from 10am to 3pm on Friday December 2, Monday December 5 and Tuesday December 6.
Martello Road will only be open to accredited vehicles on the days of the rehearsals and during the parade.
On the above-mentioned days, St George’s Street (Main Road) between Runciman Drive and Jubilee Street will be closed to traffic north and southbound from 11.45am and traffic will be diverted onto Runciman Drive. Movement will be limited in the town centre, she said.
The following roads will be closed during practice days on Friday December 2 and Monday December 5, as well as the day of the parade: Queens Road, Runciman Drive, St George`s Street, Martello Road, Forest Hill Road, Cole Point Road/Gate, Black’s Lane, King George Way, Jubilee Square, Wharf Street, East Fort Gate, Quarry Road, Soldiers Road (north) with no traffic along Main Road north or southbound, Soldiers Road, Arsenal Road (on top of the bridge), Chapel Street, Main Road at Admiralty House and Jubilee Street.
