Two suspected poachers were arrested at the world-famous, multi-coloured bathing boxes of St James on Friday September 14 after they were found in possession of abalone.
Law enforcement officers were on a routine patrol of the bathing cabins when two men came charging out.
The officers gave chase and managed to catch them before returning to the cabin with the suspects, where they found 70 units of abalone in two bags – 12 shucked and 58 unshucked – with diving gear.
