A 26-year-old man from Westlake was arrested for alleged robbery in Muizenberg Beach on Sunday September 22.
Law enforcement officers, who were patrolling the Muizenberg Main Beach at about 11:12am, were alerted by a member of the public of a robbery that was taking place on the beachfront.
The officers followed up on the information and found two men involved in a scuffle.Â
They intervened and discovered that one of the men engaged in the scuffle had tried to rob two women of their cellphones, camera and cash at knife point.
Law enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, said: “The women’s companion bravely wrestled with the armed suspect to prevent him from carrying out the robbery.”
The officers arrested the suspect and was detained at Muizenberg police station.
Both men involved in the incident sustained minor cut injuries during the scuffle.
