The date to the most anticipated world-famous Red Bull Box Cart race is gearing closer.
Taking place on Sunday November 6 in the Bo-Kaap, spectators will line up to witness cart-drivers take to the streets to be crowned the Red Bull Box Cart 2022 champions.
Earlier this year Red Bull announced a call to action for potential participants to apply on the Red Bull Box Cart Race website by playing a quick online game which led to the application page where they could enter their team details.
Teams of all levels, from amateur to experienced have been carefully selected by a panel of judges to take on the colourful steep street of the Bo-Kaap.
The likes of Wolfs of Wall Street with TikTok sensation Jean Marc, Potjie Boytjies and Phala Phala Phala, have signed up to partake in this fun concept where teams are challenged to create non-motorised carts that can race down a slope quicker than the other teams. This fun race is judged not only by the speed of the cart but also by the creative elements that stand out.
The race judged by Red Bull MotorSport Athlete Giniel de Villiers, Red Bull FORBs – Skarra Ntubeni, Courtnaé Paul, Nasty C and hosted by comedian Dalin Oliver alongside award-winning content producer Nadia Jaftha and commentary by Brian Emminis will certainly be one for the books.
“I’m super excited to be back, I first competed in Red Bull Box Cart in 2018 for team Skull Candy – we had such a great time. We had everybody, from MMA fighters to professional Red Bull drivers and we still didn’t make it down the track but we had an amazing dance routine along with it. I am looking forward to all the teams that will be entering from Mr Delivery to Shisha Nyama. We will be at the most historic location in the Bo-Kaap, so I can’t wait to see what all these teams will bring,” said Red Bull regular Courtnaé Paul.
