Adon Blouws, 17, from Ocean View, a Grade 12 pupil at Fish Hoek High School, has been selected for the SA Touch Rugby team due to take part in the Federation of International Touch (FIT) Africa-Asia-Europe championships, in Nottingham, England, in July next year.
However, he needs to raise funds to help cover travel expenses and is appealing to the community for assistance.
A former pupil at Kleinberg and Sun Valley primary schools, Adon captained Fish Hoek High’s under-14 team in 2019 and was named player of the year with the most tries scored (more than 100 points in tries and conversions) that year.
He recently joined Rugby Academy SA based at Generations School on Imhoff Farm in Hout Bay and currently plays for Speedsters in Masiphumelele.
He also represented WP in athletics, winning gold and silver in the 200m sprint and 400m relay event in 2019 and 2020 and was the only athlete from Fish Hoek High to bring back a gold medal.
