The Etuk Quartet is the featured jazz group at the next Foyer Sessions at the Masque Theatre in Muizenberg on Sunday July 24, at 6.30pm. Etuk Ubong, pictured, is a renowned African jazz musician, playing trumpet and flugel horn. He studied jazz at the Peter King College of Music as well as classical music at the Muson School of Music in Lagos, Nigeria. He has also studied with the Berklee College of Music Boston on an online programme, has a certificate from the Trinity College of Music and from the Royal School of Music London, among others. He is a student of the South African College of Music at UCT and was selected as one of the artists for this year’s Artscape Jazz Festival. He has worked along side the legendary Sir Victor Olaiya, the Afrobeat artist Femi Kuti and Nduduzo Makhatini among others. He has also toured extensively in Ghana, Benin, Senegal, South Africa, UK and the United States. His first EP was released last month.
