Charles Dagnall also took this picture of starfish on Fish Hoek Beach. Sadly a large quantity of spiny starfish (Marthasterias glacialis) were stranded on the sand last week. These amazing sea stars have the ability to regenerate one of their arms should it be detached. These ones would probably not survive as they prefer deeper water and rocky outcrops, he said.
