Four runners from the Fish Hoek Athletics Club put their feet to work last month by running 56km to raise funds for local charities. The runners Zeta Booysen, Neal Stacey, Theresa Parsraman and Annelize van Niekerk, all residents of the Fish Hoek valley, raised R4 480 during their race on Saturday June 20. They had planned to run the 2020 Comrades Marathon together but when it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the group decided to run their own race for a good cause. They entered their team 3BeautiesAndABeast for the 56km Unity Ultra Race and asked friends and family to sponsor each kilometre. After a successful run they surpassed their target of R4 480 and were able to provide 60 masks to the Grade R pupils at Ukhanyo Primary School in Masiphumelele and warm, fleece blankets to a safe house in the area. The blankets and masks were handed over on Thursday July 9.
