Fabulous florals

■ Over the past two weeks the lower southern slopes of Elsies Peak have been covered with thousands of Watsonias creating a stunning quilt of pink and green. A short 10-minute hike up the track on the Glencairn side of the mountain and you are surrounded by these magnificent flowers. The fires of earlier this year cleared the bush to ground level and allowed other plants, which were previously hidden, to feature – the Watsonias being among the most striking. They will probably last for another week or two. PICTURE: RICHARD STREET
