Hundreds of far south residents descended on Fish Hoek beachfront for the Spring Splash on Sunday September 3.
The first Sunday of September is traditionally known for the first swim in the Indian Ocean.
The weekend also marked the official launch of the Fish Hoek Centenary celebrations which made the Spring Splash extra special.
Activities such as sandcastle building, a treasure hunt and an Iron Man like competition entertained the children while
others relaxed on the beach, grabbed a bite to eat or posed for photographs with Princess Aqua, the eldest daughter of Neptune.
At 3pm sharp it was time for the swim and the shoreline filled up with residents in weird and wonderful outfits who greeted the icy water with a splash and officially welcomed spring.
