As Nelson Mandela was honoured across the country on Mandela Day, Wednesday July 18, various groups in Muizenberg showed their community spirit and volunteered for their 67 minutes and more. Muizenberg librarians read to children on the beach, the Friends Pre-Primary and Educare Centre picked up litter and prepared pots of soup for the less fortunate, the Chrysalis Academy did their bit picking up litter on their way through the suburb and the beachfront was thronging with smiling faces with the Inclusive Surfing South Africa and Believe in Schatzi Organisation surf event, which took 67 differently-abled people out into the surf, to share the joy of the waves with everyone. Pictured are, members of the Chrysalis Academy were seen in Muizenberg on Mandela Day. They had spent time collecting rubbish and paying tribute to Tata Madiba. The academy offers regular three-month personal-development courses and job-skills training for youths aged 18 to 25.
