■ Attending the premiere of Beyond The River – a nail-biting adventure story about the triumph of the human spirit which was screened at Ster Kinekor Cavendish in Claremont on Thursday April 20, were Paul and Rose Cooke of Simon’s Town. They know Ryno Armdorf, who plays the part of Oupa in the film, from when they lived in Gauteng. With them is Garth Breytenbach from Johannesburg who plays the part of Dan in the film. Starring Grant Swanby and Lemogang Tsipa, Beyond The River is inspired by the true story of Siseko Ntondini and Piers Cruickshanks, who together won gold in the 2014 Dusi Canoe Marathon. The film took two years to make and is being released tomorrow, Thursday April 27, which is Freedom Day.
