■ Simon’s Town’s annual Penguin Festival will kick off this year with a short waddle to freedom by rehabilitated African penguins. The 16th festival is on Saturday November 10, starting at 10am at Seaforth Beach, where the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) will hold a public release of the rehabilitated birds. Seen here are the birds Sanccob released for last year’s event. The festival, which is held in aid of Sanccob, will have a kids’ zone with mini rides,
an inflatable obstacle course, face-painting and a jumping castle, an edutainment marquee, marine conservation exhibits, a variety of food trucks, boerewors rolls, and a craft beer and wine tent. Parking will be available at the venue and at Seaforth Beach and entry for the kids’ zone is R50. Visit https://sanccob.co.za/ or call 021 557 6155 for more information.
