Fish Hoek Cricket Club is hosting the Fish Hoek Pop Up Market on Saturday July 29, keeping to its word that the 85-year-old Club would once again become a central hub for the local community.
Club chairman Roy Meester hopes that once summer comes the market can move to a weekly time slot as well as be in operation on a Friday evening.
Animal welfare organisation TEARS have a fundraising stall and will have volunteers walking around the market with some four legged friends available for adoption.
There will be lots of food on offer and the popular Pocket Money Market will also be trading. Mr Meester was part of the Fish Hoek Cricket Club committee who initiated the clean-up of the old club house which re-opened its doors to the community last November. “We are making quite a few upgrades and in the months to come we will be hosting events such as quiz evenings, bingo nights, musical Sundays and dance parties for the over-35s. The Pop Up Market is just the first of many events being hosted by the club,” he said.
Musical Sunday will soon become a regular feature and local musicians are invited to contact the organisers if they are interested in playing on a Sunday afternoon.
“The importance of the Sunday afternoon venture is that the musicians will be paid for their talents and the community can socialise at the end of the weekend, making new friends and closing off the weekend with a memorable afternoon,” he said.
