There is this horrible and dangerous scar
on the pavement between the Stag coffee shop and The Bookworm book shop, in the block along Recreation Road between Main Road and First Avenue. It’s been like that for almost a year. Nobody seems to care.
The loose gravel/stones are large enough to easily sprain an ankle or force a tumble. Everyone walks around it to avoid injury.
* Mayoral committee member for transport, Felicity Purchase, responds: The mentioned footway was dug up by a service provider – the City still needs to establish who was responsible for this. In the meantime, the City’s roads infrastructure and management team
will ensure that the footway is repaired by next week. We apologise for the inconvenience.
* Update: The pavement has since been repaired by the City of Cape Town.
